Ajay Devgan’s generous gift to Bipasha Basu

How far could a producer go in taking care of the wishes of the leading lady of his film? Well, he could at least gift a new mobile phone. This is exactly what producer Ajay Devgan has done for Bipasha Basu who has just finished shooting for Ajay Devgan’s comedy ‘All The Best’ in Goa this week.

Bipasha had worked really hard with most sincere efforts for Ajay’s film. She not only worked late at night and early in the mornings, she also kept the phone switched off during the shooting thus cutting off from everyone including beau John Abraham who has hurt his legs. Bipasha also agreed to do an additional role in ‘All The Best’ without extra charges. When Ajay came to know that Bips wanted a Blackberry phone, he thought it would be just the right move to show his appreciation for her dedication.

Says the actress, “Yeah, Ajay knew I wanted it. In fact it was he who got me interested in. It is actually a gift in appreciation for working long hours and changing at lightning speed between shots when we had loads of work to finish. Ajay is a fabulous producer and co-star.”

Bipasha is all ga-ga for her new phone and says, “I love it! I’m going totally crazy with it. Though I’ve no numbers on it and am trying to figure it out, I just can’t get enough of it.”

Bipasha Basu is shooting for ‘Lamhaa’ in Kashmir

Bipasha Basu had left shooting of Rahul Dholakia’s ‘Lamhaa’ in the Kashmir valley in mid way and had returned back to Mumbai owing to security reasons, but now Basu is back in Kashmir for the shoot after the producer and director assured her of proper security arrangements.

Sanjay Dutt in fact proceeded to Kashmir a day ahead of her to make sure the atmosphere is conducive to her safety. The producer Bunty Walia has met the Deputy General of Police in Kashmir who has appointed a senior-rank officer to take charge and provide all the required security force to cordon off the areas where the film will be shot.

Speaking candidly for the first time on why she left Kashmir suddenly during their schedule in November, Bipasha says, “Too much was made out of the whole thing. Lamhaa is a difficult film. There was bound to be ups and downs. The producer and director knew why I left. A certain amount of security was promised. The first seven days were absolute chaos. There was disorganization and lack of security. Beyond that I really don’t care what people say.”

Bipasha is very clear on her security issues. “Yes, my work is my life. But then I’ve a life beyond work. I’m not going to risk my life unnecessarily for any film. Who comes to hold your hand when you’re in pain? Let’s be optimistic. This time hopefully we’ll shoot without any trouble. Let’s be sensible about it. Lamhaa is a sensible film.”

So, now we have Bipasha, Sanjay Dutt and Kunal Kapoor shooting in the Dal Lake of Kashmir in freezing January. Bipasha also got the leave from the producer for one night on Wednesday to dance for an awards function then return the next morning.

Said the actress, “Yes I came back for the awards on Wednesday night for just one evening. I reached just in time to get into my costume and rush to the stage. It went really well.”

The Most Bizarre Thing That Happened To Bipasha!

Bipasha Basu suffered for three long hours when she a tiny piece of gravel went right inside her ear.

She confirms saying, “We were doing a heavy duty action scene when this gravel went right inside my ear. I had to be taken to Leelavati hospital, where it had to be sucked out.”
“It wasn’t on the surface. It went right in and I couldn’t move because there was the danger that it would go in deeper and pierce the eardrums. First I tried to shake it out. Then when that didn’t work I decided to let a doctor do the needful,” she added.

“The producer and director tried everything. We finally headed towards Leelavati. It was John (Abraham) who got an old ENT specialist friend of his to check me out. The sweet doctor was at another hospital but drove down to Leelavati. At 4.30 p m, he finally put me out of my misery,” Bipasha said.

“Who would think such a thing would happen? Normally during an action scene you protect your knees, head etc. But ear? It went straight in with a thud.

“I wasn’t moving, I was so petrified the gravel would go deeper into my ear. My parents were petrified. The minute the doctor said it could be taken out I was okay. It was the most bizarre thing that ever happened to me,” the she said.

We hope she is okay now!

Bipasha Basu has a day full of mishaps

Last Sunday was a day whose memories bring shudder to sultry Bong beauty Bipasha Basu. The gal was shooting an action scene last Sunday and then a mishap took place and she had to be taken to the hospital.

No, it wasn’t a fall or a leg or back injury. It was just a small flying pebble which landed right in her ear. Though the actress tried to shake the pebble out, but it did not help. To save her eardrum Bips decided to take the medical help but unfortunately, it was Sunday and all clinics in the vicinity were closed.

Now, it was John Abraham, who as a true boyfriend, came to her rescue. Receiving Bipasha’s SOS, he immediately called an ENT doc friend of his. Bipasha rushed to Leelavati hospital where the ENT specialist took out the pebble with a suction machine.

A relieved Bipasha went home with her parents, but another trouble awaited her. She, her parents, and her claustrophobic sister got stuck in the lift of their building. It took some time before the Basus were rescued.

Bips Charged 1.5 Crore for New Year’s Eve Show

Hotel Sahara Star has proposed Rs. 1.5 crore offers to Bipasha Basu to dance on the night of 31st December. Bipasha Basu has been agreed to the proposal however did not disclosed the amount she agreed to dance. Katrina Kaif is also not behind in money race as she is charging Rs 1 crore for dancing at JW Mariott in Juhu Mumbai.

Bipasha Basu’s ‘Lamhaa’ facing odds at the Kashmir valley

Seems the shooting of ‘Lamhaa’ in the Kashmir valley has not been a very pleasant experience for producer Bunty Walia and actress Bipasha Basu. There have been many unpleasant experiences and disruptions during the shoot of the film.

On Wednesday, during one shoot Bipasha with a band of Kashmiri women in burqas was moving in a van. The local Kashmiris got apprehensive and demanded the shooting to be stopped.

Recalls Walia, “It wasn’t a pleasant experience for Bipasha to suddenly see a mob of locals descending on the unit. We were shooting on the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) compound, which was supposed to pass off as a street in Kashmir because there are a lot of Kashmiri Pundit houses in the compound.

One sequence had a band of Kashmiri women led by Bipasha moving towards one of the houses in a van. When the local Kashmiri men saw so many women in burqas, they wanted to know what was happening. They got increasingly agitated.

We realised that when it comes to mobs nothing works…not the police, not the CRPF. We decided we had no choice but to quickly pack up for the day for the sake of the unit’s security.”

There have been incidents before when last week, Kashmiri fruit traders had intervened to stop the shooting of the film at the fruit market as they feared the movie might portray them in a bad light.

Again on Monday, the principal of a college asked the shooting to be stalled when students of a college in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district posed objections to some of the portions being shot inside the campus premises.”

Bunty Walia is very disappointed and worried at the same time. He said, “I realised quite early in our schedule that shooting the entire film in Kashmir would be impossible. The minute the locals saw a 150-strong unit in Srinagar they got suspicious and excited. There have been recent film units in Kashmir but none in Srinagar before Lamhaa.

They are apprehensive about the guns. But the gun culture has been a part of Kashmir for years. I was not showing anything unreal. This is the real Kashmir. But unfortunately their reality in a film is not acceptable to the locals,” Walia said.

After Wednesday’s disruption, director Rahul Dholakia called a press conference in Srinagar to explain that Lamhaa wasn’t projecting the Kashmir valley incorrectly.

“Rahul was very upset about the disruption. He asked the locals not to become a mob,” Walia said. “Why did the Jammu and Kashmir government promise us all cooperation and protection? I’m anxious and irritated. I’m losing a lot of money because of the disruptions. I can’t shoot beyond November 21. I don’t have my stars’ dates beyond that. The light starts fading at 4.30 pm. I’m working against all odds. We feel pushed against the wall,” he added.

Now almost 80 percent of Lamhaa will be shot in Film City in Mumbai. “We’ve rescheduled. We’ll shoot vital scenes with our stars as fast as possible and quickly move out of Kashmir. My entire film was to be shot in Kashmir for 60 days. Now we can only shoot in Kashmir for 20 days. The rest of the film will be shot on a set erected at Film City (Mumbai),” Walia said.

The set for Lamhaa will be constructed by Wasiq Khan. “He’s done other Kashmiri films like Tahaan and Yahaan. We’re shopping for Kashmiri artefacts and furniture right now. We hope to create an authentic Kashmir in Mumbai,” Walia said.

“The administration in Kashmir was cooperative. The local people were hostile. They misinterpret anything we shoot. I’m not going to explain every shot and action to the mobs. Sadly I’ve to announce that the dream of Kashmir being a paradise for film units remains just a dream.”

John-Bipasha relationship has come a long way facing all odds and experiencing their share of all ups and downs. As a gesture of love for his lady, John surprised Bips by gifting her an expensive Babouska bag from Gucci while they were holidaying in New York.

Bipasha was in New York to give company to John Abraham while he was there to shoot for Kabir Khan ’s film ‘New York’. While exploring the place, Bips came across one Babouska bag in a Gucci store, but she did not buy it because she she felt it was a bit too costly.
