Freida Pinto - Too busy to attend Cannes?

Her debut with Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ opened her doors for Hollywood and since then there has been no looking back for Freida Pinto. So busy is the girl these days that she has decided to give a miss to the prestigious 63rd Cannes International Film Festival which will commence on May 12.
Freida was set to walk the red carpet here along with her co-stars of ‘You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger’, directed by Woody Allen but since she is stuck up with the shooting of ‘Immortals’ in Canada, she will not be able to make it.
Meanwhile, Freida Pinto’s lover Dev Patel feels that Freida would be a definite treat if she gets an opportunity to play the Bond girl as had been rumored sometime back.
“She is stunning. There have been rumors about her being a Bond girl on the next film. I would love her to get the role, she’d be amazing,” Patel was quoted as saying.
However, Patel is not sure that he would be apt to play Pinto’s on-screen lover in this spy series. “I’m not sure I could ever play 007 though. I’m too much of a wimp,” laughs off Patel.

Right from the time Freida Pinto and Dev Patel worked together in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, the duo has been linked together and they have been denying the rumors.

However, the love birds have been spotted together time and again looking very much in love with each other.

Recently, they were photographed together once again as they were leaving a Fashion’s Night Out event at jewellery store ‘Asprey’ in Bond Street. They were beaming together in each other’s company as they were walking hand in hand. Pinto was carrying one of Asprey’s famous purple bags and was attired in a one-shouldered purple mini-dress and black satin peep-toe heels. Patel was dressed in a black trousers suit. The young couple were guests at the BAFTA private dinner at the store, which recognised young British talent.

Pinto, at present, is in London shooting for Allen movie and Patel has been seen with her in the capital at many occasions. This week alone they attended a Hermes party on Monday night, as well as the Asprey bash.

This is quite in contrast with the statement the actress made when she attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards recently.

Freida had stated, “Why does everybody ask me where Dev is? I don’t know where he is, I don’t have him on a leash, he’s doing his own thing. I don’t know what’s going on. I find it funny that people are so interested in what we’re doing.”

“Slumdog Millionaire” star Freida Pinto appeared in the chart of world’s sexiest women for the first time in the British men’s lifestyle magazine FHM. Last month, Pinto was also voted among the top five Hollywood sexiest women by men’s magazine Details.
The latest addition to the linkup of Freida with ‘The Slumdog Millionaire’ co-star, Dev Patel, is that the couple was spotted kissing each other during a dinner date in Israel. Dev had reportedly flown to Israel to meet his lady love on the sets of her new movie ‘Miral’.
Since the time they appeared in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, Freida and Dev have sparked rumours of linkup. Even Anil Kapoor confirmed that something was going on between the two. He had said, “”When I meet them I feel there is something happening. (I think) this is the beginning of something exciting happening. They definitely make a great pair. Both of them look very good together.”
However, both the actors have always denied anything between them. On one hand the 24-year-old actress insisted “We’re not dating,” and on the other the 18-year-old Patel added, “No, we’re not seeing each other.”
Now, we have something to ask here. People don’t kiss each other on a dinner date if there is nothing going one, dear Freida and Dev, or do they??

Unlike other Bollywood stars who aim and long for Hollywood projects, but keep Mumbai as their base clinging on to Bollywood films, The 24-year-old Slumdog Millionaire actress, Freida Pinto has moved to New York to concentrate on her Hollywood career. Not that her move has been too hasty or unplanned. The gorgeous actress has already been signed by Woody Allen for his next film where she will star alongside Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins and Antonio Banderas.

And also, the gal is making her presence felt on the international front dazzling at major events. Recently, she was spotted at the Chanel show in Paris Fashion Week where she outdid her fellow front row occupants supermodels Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer. She was was the centre of attention in a white draped cocktail dress with a black layered chain detail and black stilettos.

The Mumbai native, had earlier confessed to getting star struck despite now being a celebrity in her own right, with the stupendous success of her debut film which went on to win eight Academy awards.
